VIDEO: Stage of Impact 2025 Panel Session: Scaling Climate Impact with Rethink Action & ClimateView

This session marks the culmination of the EU-funded RethinkAction project, which has generated new knowledge and tools to promote sustainable land use and climate action. It provides a high-level overview of RethinkAction’s results, including the platform, the MOOC, and the Solutions Package - all designed to support decision-making at the intersection of land-use and climate action.

The session also highlights how consortium partners are working to ensure that project outcomes continue to create impact by connecting with relevant partners and initiatives. It showcases how ClimateView is integrating RethinkAction’s key science-based outputs into its platform to add to the Transition Element Framework. ClimateView is used by over 250 cities and regions worldwide.

The Transition Element Framework consists of open-source, IPCC-informed data building blocks that help cities design and monitor mitigation pathways. Building on RethinkAction’s results, ClimateView plans to expand this framework by developing “Adaptation Elements”, enabling cities and regions to incorporate adaptation strategies alongside mitigation in a single, science-based system.

This evolution ensures that RethinkAction’s knowledge outputs do not remain confined to the project but instead become scalable, practical tools for local governments. The panel discusses how this integration opens new opportunities for comprehensive climate planning, connecting research and practice, and linking action to funding.
