Doconomy Co-Hosts "To Explore is to Lead" With The Explorers Club During Climate Week NYC 2026
Stellar conversation brought together global climate leaders, scientists, and advocates to accelerate climate action through science based narrative and leadership.
On Monday, September 21st, Doconomy co-hosted the flagship event "To Explore is to Lead" alongside The Explorers Club kicking off their program for Climate Week NYC 2026. The event convened global scientists, corporate leaders, policy experts, and environmental advocates to discuss actionable solutions for climate change.
Now in its second year, the event opened with welcoming remarks from Dr. Alexander More, Chair of Climate Week NYC at The Explorers Club. The program featured two high-impact fireside discussions moderated by Doconomy CEO Mathias Wikström, focusing on how storytelling, culture, and extraordinary leadership in select verticals drive systemic environmental and social change.
Key Discussions and Panels Included:
An inspiring Fireside Chat with renowned climate scientist Michael Mann, Presidential Distinguished Professor, Director of Penn Center for Science, Sustainability and the Media, University of Pennsylvania.
Accelerating Change Through Narrative: A conversation exploring how culture, science, and human experience combine to shape empowering climate narratives. Panelists included Professor Dr Johan Rockström, Director at Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), THE NAT Founder Gail Gallie, and climate strategist Shyla Raghav (former Chief Impact Officer at TIME).
Transformative Leadership Beyond the Ordinary: A panel examining transformative leadership across corporate strategy, sustainable finance, consumer behavior, and environmental law. Panelists included Karen Pflug (CSO, Ingka Group / IKEA), Johanna Fager (Head of Group Sustainability, Swedbank), Josh Bayly (Director of Sustainability, Consumers International), and Professor Dan Esty (Hillhouse Professor of Environmental Lay and Policy, Yale University).
Additionally, Johan Rockström provided key insights on the Planetary Boundaries framework, highlighting critical thresholds for Earth system stability. The program also featured a poem by legendary oceanographer Dr. Sylvia Earle, courtesy of the NAT.
