Doconomy and Crédit Agricole Payment Services join forces to test carbon footprint measurements of credit card purchases

Doconomy and Crédit Agricole Payment Services (CAPS) have entered into a collaboration which aims to enable climate action at every payment.

STOCKHOLM, January 25, 2022 — With a strong commitment to the Crédit Agricole Group’s CSR approach, CAPS has approached Doconomy to work on a solution to provide customers, via a dedicated application, with an estimate of the carbon footprint of every purchase made. The functionality connects to the customers’ bank card, thanks to the Åland Index impact calculation methodology.

Doconomy and CAPS have developed a first service which will be tested by a panel of customers. The objective of this exploration is to verify the appetite of French customers for this service and to assess its potential for use in France.

“For Doconomy, our collaboration with Crédit Agricole Payment Services represents an important first step in our desire to integrate the French market and provide consumers with the best available data on climate impact. CAPS is a leader in the payments market and our joint work shows that the company is concretely committed to issues related to the protection of the planet. We are also convinced that the French population is amongst the best educated on the topic and really concerned by environmental issues.”

Mathias Wikström, CEO and Co-Founder of Doconomy

“This innovation, on which we are happy to work with Doconomy, is perfectly in line with Crédit Agricole’s end purpose. We are convinced of the great interest of this application and eager to see how it receives the support of consumers.”

Jean-Luc Pothet, General Secretary of Crédit Agricole Payment Services
